Kitchens Renovation Process

Kitchens Inc. fully understands how challenging a renovation can seem. We therefore use a series of 4 meetings designed to develop a complete understanding of the project, and avoid the pitfalls created by assumptions.

processStep 1: In-home Consultation

The process begins with a design consultation at your home. During the consultation, the designer will collect your ideas for what you want to have done; measure the space involved; and make suggestions regarding design direction. All of the information gathered will become part of a comprehensive design and renovation plan. It is important to remember that design is a process.

Step 2: Showroom Visit

During the showroom visit, we will show you the level of cabinets we regularly promote. We strive to spend dollars on important details and save dollars on frivolous things. Showroom cabinets are used to show the cabinet types in a typical kitchen; and a discussion of the materials used to build the cabinet ensures that the client knows what they are buying. The rendering of the kitchen plan is discussed, and the proposed budget for the project is reviewed. The budget will include a set of options priced as allowances which provides for some of the shopping and decisions yet to be determined.

Step 3: Qualifying Construction Costs

While Kitchens Inc. has 30 years in business of experience backing it; every project is unique and therefore required the qualification of costs by tradesmen who are preparing to do the work. This requires a second meeting in your home to make sure estimated costs are accurate and not understated or overstated. During this visit both stakeholders need to be present to help finalize the details discussed in the design stages with the professionals helping to execute the design. The result of this process is to correct any discrepancy in the budget.

Step 4: Colour Meeting

The final step in the design process is to make final choices in materials and colouring. Some of this work has already been done during the course of other meetings. The purpose of this meeting is to finalize the colour palette which will include: door styles, wood species, and stain or paint colours, counter top, flooring, backsplash. It may be necessary to visit some of our local suppliers to make some of these choices.

At this point we will be prepared to enter into a contract. It takes typically 8 weeks from the arrangement stage until we are prepared to begin to work on your house.

The signing of our agreement also requires a deposit of 50% of the total contract. The order for cabinets will be processed thereafter. Once the order has been approved, a delivery schedule is established. The delivery date helps determine when the rest of the renovation happens. You will be given a schedule pertaining to the renovation based on estimated times to deconstruct the kitchen or bathroom; install new plumbing; repair walls, floors, ceiling; paint, install new covering; install cabinets and counter tops, plumbing fixtures & lights, back splash.

Kitchen & bathroom renovations are not painless but we help you through every aspect of the procedure. We have executed hundreds of projects and are fully prepared to do yours!

We meet Debbie at the local home show and were immediately impressed with her no pressure and helpful approach. We scheduled a meeting at our home to discuss a possible renovation. Dan was very professional and listened to our wish list and what we thought we might like. He asked if he could come up with his own idea of a layout and we agreed. We met again once his plans were created and he presented a layout we had not even considered and admittedly at first questioned. In the end we went with his vision and the end result was fantastic. The job was totally on schedule…in fact to the day for various trades to come in and do their part. The work quality was exceptional…especially the cabinet and trim installations. Through the whole process, Dan and Debbie were involved and available for any questions and concerns….very responsive. The final bill came exactly as quoted …to the penny..and the job was finished on time as promised with no delays. A year after the renovation it still looks as new…we continue to be complimented on our kitchen. Our experience was a very pleasant one. Kitchens Inc. were exceptional to deal with and I would hire them again without question.
